Pottery is therapy, a form of meditation

You cannot rush

I would like to invite you to a pottery workshop at Misty Ceramics to create your own piece of ceramic art.

Pottery is one of the oldest and most widespread of the arts. I have long held a passion for ceramics and am delighted to be able to share my love of clay with you from my small home studio. Each object leaves individual marks from the making process, and when we create something from clay, we inevitably leave a little piece of ourselves in that object. It is a tactile, sensory experience, reconnecting with Mother Earth. My aim is for you to create a piece of art which you will take home and cherish.

This is a fun workshop in a bright home studio environment. No prior knowledge or art skills required.

A half day workshop is an enjoyable introduction to clay. We will start with basic slab building or create a pinch pot, then learn how to apply surface pattern.

Duration:       3 hours (10am- 1pm)

£70 per person (includes 1 piece clear glazed. Should you wish to have more of your creations finished there is an additional charge of £5 per lb fired weight)

Learn how to construct and decorate your tile. The first week we will roll, cut, sculpt, carve or make texture onto your piece. It will then be bisque (high fired) ready to be glazed. The second session we will glaze your piece ready for the final firing.

Duration: 2 hours, 2 sessions (10am-12pm or 1-3pm)

£80 per person (includes all materials for your tile)

NOTE: If the weather is good, I’m happy to reconvene to the garden and run an alfresco session!

What you need to bring

  • Your desire to learn and have fun!

  • Any projects which may inspire you

  • You’ll want to wear old clothing - I have some aprons but feel free to bring your own

  • (btw, Fingernails get in the way of clay...)

Workshop dates can be arranged directly with me on a date which suits you.

I would kindly request payment upon booking to secure the workshop:

Either a bank transfer or you can pay cash/contactless here at the studio.

The studio is fairly snug and to ensure we are all comfortable there will be a maximum of 2 visitors per session.

The minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult for the duration of the workshop and must not be left unattended during the session.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the workshop is scheduled.

If you or anyone in your household has a high temperature or a new and continuous cough, even if it's mild, you should stay at home, we would appreciate it if you could postpone visiting us until you are feeling better.

The true perfection of a handmade pot comes from the impossibility of ever creating another piece exactly like it!
