I would like to invite you to a pyrography workshop at Misty Ceramics to create your own piece of art burned onto wood.

This is an un-rushed workshop in a relaxed studio environment. If the sun is shining we'll go alfresco!

 

For thousands of years pyrography has been an artform used to make ordinary, everyday objects beautiful. My aim is to ensure that you enjoy everything this fascinating, relaxing artform has to offer using wood-burning tools.

Suitable for beginners, no prior knowledge or art skills are required.

What to expect

A two and a half hour, hands on course with Karen.

Spend the first part of the session finding out about pyrography, share ideas and connect with your inner artist. We can think about your design. If you’re unsure then I can offer advice. You will learn about the wood burning tool, use of temperature control to create different effects, how to transpose designs. You will also learn how to hold the pen, the correct strokes and pressure to apply.

There are demonstration pieces for you to practice on before crafting  your design. Pick an item to work on. I have a range of boxes, plaques, spoons, boards for you to choose from (there’s a small nominal price to cover the cost of the wooden item you choose)

Tracing paper /graphite paper is available if you're unsure of drawing free-hand.

If you wish to, you can complete your masterpiece using watercolours or acrylics, and then we'll seal your work so that it remains beautiful once you take it home. 

You will leave the studio with your own unique keepsake… and a new skill!

• Monday to Friday

• Morning Session      9.30am – 12.00pm

• Afternoon Session    1pm – 3.30pm

Prices

• One-2-One  -  £45 per session

• Two -2-One  -  £35 per person

• 3 or more people  -  £30 per person

​

Plus the cost of your final wooden piece. Prices range from £3 to £15 depending on the item chosen.

(Occasional weekend slots are available at £5 surcharge per person)

Simply send a contact form via the website or send an email directly to mistyceramics@gmail.com, then I will reply to you and we can arrange a mutually convenient date. I haven't published specific dates because we all have different commitments and I prefer to be as flexible as possible.

When you confirm a date for your workshop please be aware that bookings are non-refundable. The good news is that you can transfer your place to someone else, so you are welcome to offer it to a friend, just let me know. 

If you do need to cancel your workshop please let me know as soon as possible and I will do all I can to accommodate. If it is more than 7 days notice AND I am able to fill your place I may be able to offer you a refund at my discretion (deducting £5 for admin costs)

The minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult for the duration of the workshop and must not be left unattended during the session.
